Meet Matthew Webb
I still remember the day I picked up a saxophone for the first time in sixth grade.
At the time, I had no idea that one middle school band class would shape the course of my life. What began as curiosity quickly became a passion that opened doors I never imagined—from performing with orchestras and recording in Nashville studios to teaching in public schools, leading worship in churches, and eventually founding my own music education business.
That journey taught me something I now believe with all my heart:
Every person has unlimited potential.
Sometimes all they need is someone who believes in them before they believe in themselves.
That belief became the foundation of UP MUSIC LLC, which stands for Unlimited Potential Music.
I started UP MUSIC because I wanted to create more than a music lesson studio. I wanted to build a place where students of every age and ability could grow with confidence, discover their unique gifts, and experience the joy of making music. Whether someone dreams of playing their first song, joining a school band, writing original music, recording an album, or performing on stage, my goal is to help them develop the skills and confidence to get there.
Over the past twenty years, I've had the privilege of teaching thousands of students through private lessons, public education, churches, and community programs. For more than fifteen years, I've served as a music educator in Florida's public schools, working with students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Every student learns differently, and I believe great teachers adapt their instruction to meet the individual—not the other way around.
My own musical journey has taken me through many different experiences.
I studied Music Education at Olivet Nazarene University before earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Business with minors in Saxophone Performance and Religion from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. While living in Nashville, I performed with the Nashville Symphonic Orchestra, worked as a recording session musician, and produced my first album alongside Music Hall of Fame producer James Foglesong.
As my career continued, I discovered that understanding music alone wasn't enough. I wanted to better understand education, business, leadership, and the many different ways people learn. That pursuit led me to earn a degree in Finance from Kaplan University and professional teaching certifications in Florida, including Music (K–12), Exceptional Student Education (K–12), Elementary Education (K–6), Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, Social Science (6–12), and ESOL.
One of the most meaningful moments in my teaching career came after visiting an Exceptional Student Education classroom. That experience completely changed the way I viewed teaching. It reminded me that every student is capable of growth when instruction is designed around their strengths rather than their limitations. That philosophy continues to shape every lesson I teach today.
Outside the classroom, music has remained a central part of my life. I've planted four churches, served as Music Minister in seven churches, participated in worship ministry in more than fifty churches, and currently serve as Music Minister at One Life Sarasota. I've had the opportunity to perform with nationally recognized musicians, including Victor Wooten, direct dozens of concerts and productions, and continue recording and producing music.
Today, UP MUSIC has grown beyond private lessons.
Through Music Forge, I also help songwriters, musicians, churches, and organizations bring their creative ideas to life through songwriting, recording, production, publishing, and music business coaching. Whether you're writing your very first song or preparing to release original music to the world, I enjoy helping artists move from an idea to a finished project they can be proud of.
When I'm not teaching or recording, you'll usually find me behind a camera. I enjoy videography, video editing, and creating media that helps musicians, churches, and organizations share their stories. My wife is a talented photographer, and together we enjoy using our creative gifts to serve others throughout our community.
Most importantly, I'm a husband, and my wife and I are excited to welcome our first son in August 2026. Growing up with parents who have been happily married for nearly fifty years taught me the importance of faith, commitment, service, and investing in people. Those values influence not only my family life but also the way I teach every student who walks through my door.
Whether you're looking for private music lessons, preparing for auditions, learning a new instrument, writing your first song, recording an album, or simply exploring music for the first time, I'd be honored to be part of your journey.
At UP MUSIC, every lesson begins with one simple belief:
Every student has Unlimited Potential.
I look forward to helping you discover yours.
